Press Release Oct. 15, 2007Anne Palmer Moss Selected as Fellow in National Aging Services Leadership Program
GOSHEN, N.Y. -- The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) recently selected Anne Palmer Moss of Elant, Inc. as a member of AAHSA’s Leadership AAHSA Fellowship program.
The Leadership AAHSA program is designed to augment the ranks of emerging leaders across the continuum of care and services for the aging and address the shortage of potential leaders nationwide. Only 35 executives from the long term care field are accepted into the highly competitive fellowship program each year.
Ms. Palmer Moss joined the Elant Foundation as the vice president of development in the fall of 2005. In the brief time Ms. Palmer Moss has served in this position she has established herself as an industry leader. In May 2007, she spearheaded a highly acclaimed Eldercare Summit, which provided a much-needed forum for industry dialogue on the economic impact of eldercare issues.
As an extension of the Summit, Transitions: The Eldercare Resource Guide to the Hudson Valley, a reference tool designed to help regional eldercare end-users navigate the heath care system was published through the Foundation.
“We are tremendously proud that Anne was chosen to participate in such a selective national program,” said Donna G. McAleer, president and CEO of Elant. “At Elant, we strongly encourage our top talent to seek opportunities to promote their ongoing leadership development and professional growth.”
Ms. Palmer Moss’s fund-raising and non-profit board management skills have earned her numerous accolades and were instrumental in her launching the Community Foundation of Orange County, spearheading it to more than $3 million in assets in less than five years.
In the Hudson Valley region, Ms. Palmer Moss has served on many boards in leadership capacities, including the Orange County Partnership, SUNY New Paltz Foundation, the Community Foundation of Orange County, and the Orange County Parks Master Plan Task Force. She helped to found the Non-Profit Institute for Leadership and Management at SUNY Orange. She is a member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals and Leadership America (Class of 2002) and is a 2001 Tribute to Women of Achievement Honoree. Additionally, she has years of service to arts organizations, institutions of higher learning, her church and numerous other civic organizations.
Ms. Palmer Moss holds a degree in Microenvironmental Studies in Design, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She also studied at Emerson College in Boston and did post-graduate work in journalism and communications at Penn State University.
The Leadership AAHSA class will convene in late October at AAHSA’s Annual Meeting and Exposition in Orlando, Fla. and meet with leaders from the field.
“Leadership AAHSA is built on the power of collaboration and community to develop the innovative, person-centered programs our elders deserve,” AAHSA president and CEO Larry Minnix said. “Together, these individuals will learn valuable leadership skills that will help their organizations offer seniors the services they need, when they need them, in a place they can call home.”
