25, 2007Elant VP Named Certified Compliance Professional
GOSHEN, N.Y. -- Michael A. Smith, vice president of Elant, Inc., was recently awarded the Certified Compliance Professional (CCP) designation from the Health Ethics Trust, a division of the Council of Ethical Organizations of Alexandria, Va., an organization that has trained more corporate compliance professionals than any other.
In recognition of this achievement, Smith will be publicly acknowledged at the 2007 Healthcare Best Compliance Practices Forum in Washington, D.C.
In response to growing ethics and compliance concerns in the healthcare industry, the Council established the Health Ethics Trust in 1995. The purpose of the Trust is to assist healthcare organizations committed to ethical and legal conduct adhere to compliance requirements through educational programs, research and shared resources.
Prior to joining Elant last year, Smith served as president of the Amos and Sarah Holden Home in Newburgh for 13 years and spent 17 years as a partner and chief operating officer of a government contract manufacturer, J. & H. Smith Light Corp., in New Windsor. Smith is also a past board member of the Elant Foundation, Inc.
