Elant Publishes Resource Guide for Seniors

GOSHEN, N.Y. – The not-for-profit Elant network has published a free resource guide designed to support seniors and their families by providing useful information on services, programs and issues that affect the elderly.

The 82-page guide called Transitions: The Eldercare Resource Guide to the Hudson Valley, includes articles on aging and resource listings designed to help seniors navigate the maze of eldercare issues. The guide also contains articles on financial, medical and legal issues seniors frequently confront. A glossary is included to help readers understand the special language often involved in aging issues.

The resource guide includes excerpts from presentations made this past May by senior care experts at the region’s first Eldercare Summit ’07:  Addressing Livability in the Hudson Valley.  The Summit was spearheaded by Elant, and executed by a collaborative effort with offices for the aging throughout the region and other strategic partners. Key leaders from throughout the Hudson Valley region gathered at the summit to examine the impact our aging population has on the region, and to explore solutions to the healthcare, housing and economic challenges that will increase as the region’s baby boomers move into their senior years.

"As a leader in eldercare for more than two decades, Elant is proud to take a leading role in producing this eldercare guide," said Donna G. McAleer, president and CEO of Elant. "We feel we have an obligation to the community to help raise awareness about the far-reaching impact our aging population has – and will continue to have – on our region."

The resource guide is available free of charge at county Offices for the Aging throughout the Hudson Valley. Copies are also available at Elant locations and on the Elant web site.
